Actresses are increasingly sharing their stories of stress and distress, which they undergo while shooting naked or suggestively nude and/or sexually explicit scenes. Entertainment news consumers remember learning about actress Kubbra Sait, who played the role of a transwoman in Sacred Games, saying in an interview that her sex scene was shot seven times because director Anurag Kashyap wanted seven different points of view for the sequence. Kubbra Sait had said that the director shot the scene seven times one after another. She started crying during the seventh shot. She said that she kept crying, lying on the floor. Nawazuddin Siddiqui had trued to relax her, saying, "I think you should go out because my scene is not over."
Bold scenes of Tridha Chaudhary and Bobby Deol in Ashram have been very much discussed. The actress had said that she was very uncomfortable shooting for these scenes. Tridha had said she was apprehensive of somebody editing the scenes suggestively and making them go viral. She then clarified that in reality the shoot is not what the bold scene looks like on the screen. A pillow was used in the scene she had with Bobby Deol and there were many people on the set, she said.
There were several bold scenes in ALTBalaji's web series Paurushpur. The wax scene was much talked about. Actress Ashmita Bakshi made a social media post on this scene with Annu Kapoor who played a sex-addicted king in the series. He was shown pouring hot wax on Ashmita's back. Ashmita had said that real hot wax was dropped on her. Although she had a silicone sheet on her back, due to which she was not burnt.
Due to lack of censorship on OTT platforms, nudity, vulgar language, mature content etc have become expected aspects of web series marked for the "18+" viewership. Many web series are known for their 'bold' content.

One such web series Mastram courted controversy due to actresses appearing in such bold scenes that later this web series had to be removed from the OTT platform. However, these scenes were shot in the presence of professionals in cinema who have come to be known as "intimacy coordinators" who direct only those parts of a series. The makers of the series had hired Canada's intimacy coordinator Amanda Cutting.
