Abu Dhabi: United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan will honour Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the Zayed Medal. Abu Dhabi’s crown prince and army’s deputy supreme commander Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed tweeted this information on Thursday.

Zayed Medal is the greatest honour given to the real head of a country. This honour has been given to Modi with a view to strengthening the friendship and diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Prior to Modi, President Vladimir Putin of Russia, Queen Elizabeth II of Britain, King Salman of Saudi Arabia and China’s President Xi Jinping have received this honour.

Why Modi was considered for Zayed Medal

Sheikh Mohammed said in a tweet, “We express our appreciation by giving our medal to our friend, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to develop a friendly relationship between the two countries and to create a new dimension of cooperation in different fields.”

Sheikh Mohammed praised the diversity, tolerance, coexistence and culture of respect in India.

The prime minister thanked the UAE authority for the award.

Two big honours for Modi this year

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was awarded South Korea’s Seoul Peace Prize in February this year. Modi was the 14th person to receive that award. This award was started after the successful Olympic Games of Seoul in 1988.

Modi donated the awarded amount of Rs 1.30 crore received to the Namami Gange project.

Apart from this, Modi was given the United Nations Champion of the Earth Award this year for contributing to the field of environment. United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres gave this honour to Modi in New Delhi.
