Lakhimpur: BJP MLA from Lakhimpur Yogesh Verma was shot at in the party office during Holi celebrations on Thursday. The bullet hit his feet.
Ruckus followed this incident. The superintendent of police, Lakhimpur, Poonam confirmed the incident had taken place.
The people present at the spot of the crime took MLA Yogesh Verma to a nearby hospital where he is being treated. According to doctors, he is out of danger.
After getting the information, the police reached the spot. A case has been registered. An investigation into the matter is going on.
Verma is the BJP legislator from Lakhimpur Sadar. The incident happened this afternoon. The attacker has not been identified so far. At present, the Sadar MLA is admitted to the Tulsi Hospital.
In this context, DM Lakhimpur S Singh said that Lakhimpur Sadar MLA Yogesh Verma was meeting with some people in the party office on the occasion of Holi, during which he was shot at. An argument broke out between Verma and his associates which ended with the MLA sustaining a bullet injury.
Verma is out of danger, but he is in a state of shock and is unable to make a statement right now. The investigation is going on.
