has halted the development of one of its upcoming film, Fast and Loose, which stars Will Smith. The film was stalled after Will Smith-Chris Rock slapgate. Will lost his cool after the comedian made a GI Jane on his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith’s baldness.

According to a report in Variety, weeks before the Oscars ceremony, director David Leitch also pulled away from the project, electing to move to the Ryan Gosling vehicle Fall Guy for Universal, and now the streaming giant has decided to pull away from the film.

It is still not sure if Netflix will resume work on Fast and Loose‘s development or if they plan to rope in a new actor.

Will Smith had later issued a public apology to Chris Rock for punching him on stage. In a note on Instagram, he wrote, “Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive. My behavior at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally (sic).” He added, “I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness (sic).”

Will Smith further wrote, “I would also like to apologize to the Academy, the producers of the show, all the attendees and everyone watching around the world. I would like to apologize to the Williams Family and my King Richard Family. I deeply regret that my behavior has stained what has been an otherwise gorgeous journey for all of us. I am a work in progress. Sincerely, Will (sic).”

In 2018, Jada Pinkett Smith revealed her alopecia diagnosis. She has been open about her struggle with the condition. Will Smith and Jada tied the knot in 1997.
