In the run-up to the West Bengal election 2021, many controversial statements from the political leaders cutting across party lines have come to the fore. The latest one comes from Trinamool Congress politician Sheikh Alam who was heard about breaking India.
“We are 30% and they are 70%. They will come to power with the support of 70%, they should be ashamed. If our Muslim population moves to one side then we can create 4 new Pakistans. Where will 70% of the population go?” the Trinamool Congress leader was quoted by ANA as saying.
Sheikh made the comments while campaigning for Trinamool candidate Bidhan Chandra Majhi who is contesting from Nanoor (SC) Birbhum. Sheikh Alam said that the BJP should be ashamed of themselves because they will come to the power with the support of 70% voters.
Talking about some incident in the area, the TMC leader said that if they wanted, they could have ordered their boys to remove those people in five minutes. ‘They would have beaten them with sticks, but we didn’t do that, because we have trust on Mamata Banerjee’, he said.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strongly reacted to Sheikh’s statements, saying that the TMC leaders are making such comments duet Mamata Banerjee’s appeasement politics. BJP leader Amit Malviya accused the TMC supremo of reducing the majority community in the state to second grade citizens.
“TMC leaders like Sheikh Alam have the audacity to dream of 4 Pakistan because of Mamata Banerjee’s brazen appeasement politics over the last 10 years. She reduced the majority community in WB to second grade citizens, where they had to seek court approval even for Durga visarjan!, Amit Malviya tweeted.
BJP has repeatedly accused the Mamata Banerjee led regime of playing appeasement politics and favouring the minority community.
