Tiwari to councillors: You won’t get tickets, impress people with work

Manoj Tiwari has said it will be the councillors must make the BJP win from their respective wards by impressing people with their performance

New Delhi: Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Manoj Tiwari and Delhi’s organisation in-charge Siddharthan have clarified to the MCD councillors from the party that they would not get tickets to contest in the upcoming Delhi Assembly election as the BJP would not nominate any councillor.

According to sources, Manoj Tiwari has said that it will be the responsibility of the councillors to make the BJP win from their respective wards. In the meantime, they must submit report cards every month on how well their respective wards have been served.

Tiwari and organisation in-charge Siddharthan have said that the councillors are supposed to be connected to the region and the public and that they are meant to address the problems of the people. The party must know whether they have served their areas well enough to make people vote for the BJP. This report can be sought at any time.

Tiwari had a meeting with the councillors of East Delhi Municipal Corporation on Sunday. BJP organisation in-charge Siddharthan joined the meeting, too. Sources say that the councillors were asked how many of them had filled income tax. Those who had not filed their income tax returns were asked to comply with the law immediately.

Earlier on Sunday, Haryana’s singer Sapna Chaudhary joined the BJP in the presence of many party leaders. Chaudhary joined the BJP at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in the presence of former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, general secretary Ram Lal, Delhi in-charge Shyam Jaju and Tiwari.

Chaudhary, who joined the party under the BJP membership drive in Delhi, became the first member of the party in Delhi during the drive that was launched on Saturday, which was the birth anniversary of the founder of the predecessor of the BJP, Bharatiya Jana Sangh, Syama Prasad Mookerjee. The party is running a mass membership campaign all over the country.

Sapna Chaudhary did extensive publicity of the BJP in Delhi during the Lok Sabha election. In March, there was speculation that she had joined the Congress but she rejected those speculations.
