Tauseef, the prime accused in the Nikita Tomar murder case, who had shot the 21-year-old student in Ballabhgarh on 27 October, had allegedly changed his name to Ankit to get in touch with the deceased during school days. Tauseef, who shot Tomar, had hidden his identity fearing that his religion might become a hindrance in becoming friends with the girl he ‘loved’.
A friend of Nikita, who studies in the same college in Ballabgarh, claimed that Tauseef was a senior in the same school where her late friend used to study. “In order to become friends with Nikita, he always used to identify himself with a Hindu name Ankit. However, once a school friend called him by his real name infront of them and we realised that he was a Muslim”, Amar Ujala quoted Nikita’s friend as saying.
During the schools days Tauseef used to study in Class 12, while Nikita was one year junior to him and was in Class 11 when he tried to come close to her, she claimed.
Meanwhile, Faridabad Police have arrested the person who provided the country-made pistol to Tauseef from Haryana’s Nuh district on Wednesday night. The accused has been identified as Arju.
Earlier, the Haryana Police arrested prime accused Tauseef and his associate Rehan, who had accompanied him for allegedly killing Nikita outside her college in Ballabhgarh.
The shooting incident of the 21-year-old girl was captured on a CCTV camera outside the college. In the video, which has gone viral, it is seen that the prime accused initially tried to shove Nikita into a car, however, when she resisted she was shot at point-blank range. She was rushed to a nearby hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
The Haryana government has assured of swift action and assured that the charge sheet will be published in 30 days.
Nikita’s aggrieved mother has claimed that her family had filed a complaint against Tauseef two years ago for allegedly harassing her daughter. However, following an assurance from the accused’s family that he would mend his ways, the complaint was taken back.
