Tahir Hussain’s accomplices arrested too

While Liaquat and Riyasat were accomplices of Tahir Hussain in the alleged act of rioting, Tariq helped the AAP councillor hide after the riot


Three more people have been arrested in connection with the crimes Tahir Hussain, the councillor suspended from the Aam Aadmi Party, is alleged to have committed during the riots. Delhi Police Crime Branch has arrested these accomplices named Liaquat, Riyasat and Tariq Rizvi in ​​ riots case.

According to information received from the police, Liaquat and Riyasat were involved in the violence in Chand Bagh area of north-east Delhi.

Tariq Rizvi is accused of hiding Tahir Hussain in his house. After the AAP councillor’s name figured in cases of violence, Rizvi hid Hussain in his house in Zakir Nagar.

Earlier, AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan tried to add a communal colour to the arrest of Hussain. Khan said, “He (Hussain) is being punished because he is a Muslim.”

“Perhaps the biggest crime in India today is to be Muslim. It is possible that in the coming days, police will try to accuse Tahir Hussain of rioting in Delhi,” Khan said.

Several pieces of evidence against Hussain have surfaced in the meantime. Items such as stones, petrol bombs, glass bottles and slingshots have been recovered from the roof of Hussain’s house.

Notably, except the house of Hussain, all houses in the neighbourhood in the vicinity were damaged in the riots.

The police have included the charges and the evidence in the case against Hussain.

Tahir Hussain is accused of IB security assistant Ankit Sharma. Ankit’s family has filed an FIR against the councillor in which he is accused of murder.

Police is tight-lipped about the phone calls Hussain made to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and MLA Khan before the riots.

Also, a day after IB security assistant Ankit Sharma’s cadaver was recovered from the drain near Hussain’s house, the disrobed body of a woman was found in the same drain. A television news channel’s crew reached the basement of the AAP councillor where they found burnt undergarments of the victim.
