The Hindu IT cell has now lodged an FIR against Bollywood actress Swara Bhasker for comparing Taliban terror to ‘Hindutva.’ The FIR has been lodged at Hatigaon police station in Assam. The group’s recruitment head Santanu Sakia recommended the move. There had been more than 14 FIRs against the actress lodged yesterday, a count that has risen to more than 30 today.
As the Taliban took over Afghanistan, Swara Bhasker likened the Islamic terrorists to the advocates of Hindutva in India. While pro-Hindutva celebrity social media users like Kangana Ranaut lodged their protests using their respective profiles on different platforms, there are those who believe in legal action, which begins with an FIR.
Police registered an FIR today a few hours after receiving a complaint in the case. A case under Sections 67A and 295A has been registered against Swara Bhasker in Assam.
An FIR was lodged in Gujarat by the Hindu IT cell. The group’s social media coordinator Akshit Singh says the group works for religion legally. So far, it has lodged about 500 complaints. Of these, 24 are by way of FIRs. The platform was established by Vikas Pandey and Ramesh Solanki. Members of the group say they will not tolerate the insult of their faith by the ilk of Swara Bhasker.
#ArrestSwaraBhasker trended on Twitter yesterday. Delhi-based lawyer Ashok Chaitanya has lodged a complaint with the Delhi Police against Swara. He said that he had lodged a complaint with the police against the absurd statements made by Swara.
Swara Bhasker had tweeted, “We cannot praise ‘Hindutva terrorism’ expressing surprise and sorrow over the Taliban terror. It cannot be that we sit silently on the Taliban terror and express our anger over ‘Hindutva terrorism.’ Our human and moral values should not be based on who is the oppressor and who is the victim.”
