Sushant Singh Rajput death case not dead: What CBI is doing now

The partially leaked report by a team from AIIMS after examining the viscera of Sushant Singh Rajput was not satisfactory for the CBI

The investigation into late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s mysterious death is still in progress. The agency has now approached the US to conclude the investigation.

The investigating agency has sought to retrieve deleted chats, mails of Sushant Singh Rajput from and Facebook Headquarters in the US California under MLAT (Mutual Legal Treaty).

Sources said the does not want to leave any stone unturned before taking the case to the final stage. The CBI has approached the US to verify if there is any social media account, email, or any link related to the actor before the day he was found dead on 14 June 2020.

Vikas Singh, the lawyer of Sushant Singh Rajput’s family, has confirmed that the has approached the US under MLAT and sought Sushant’s deleted mails and chats as the CBI has not yet reached any final conclusion.

After the report from the forensic team of AIIMS, a partial reading of which suggested Sushant Singh Rajput had committed suicide, the had said if it was actually suicide, a probe to find out whether there was abetment to suicide or it was murder would go on.

After Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, Mumbai Police started investigating the case and hurriedly called it a suicide. The autopsy carried out by the municipal Cooper Hospital raised more questions than answers.

Sushant’s father claimed that the late actor’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty should be arrested for abetment to suicide. The case was registered for abetment and later was handed over to the CBI. The statements of all the staff present at SSR’s house along with Rhea and her brother Showik were recorded several times.

Apart from the CBI, two more central investigative agencies — the Enforcement Directorate and Narcotics Control Bureau — are investigating the matter. The NCB arrested many including Rhea and her brother Showik while probing the case from the contraband angle. It interrogated many Bollywood celebrities after their WhatsApp chats for drug procurement surfaced.

Despite all this, the has not yet reached the closure of this case and has reached the US through the channel of MLAT, from where this case will be taken to the final angle after getting the details of the deleted chats mail.
