Sushant case: Narcotics Control Bureau detains Samuel Miranda

Sushant Singh Rajput’s former housekeeping manager, Samuel Miranda, was on 4 September detained by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in connection with its probe into the drug angle in the case, news agency reported.

Miranda, whose house was searched by the bureau, was detained under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, sources said.

Miranda was appointed by Rhea Chakraborty in May last year. He used to manage all the household expenses. Rajput’s family has alleged that Miranda helped Chakraborty in siphoning off his money and supplying drugs.

The bureau is searching Rhea Chakraborty’s residence in Mumbai to conduct a search in connection with its probe in the Sushant Singh Rajput case. Five people have been arrested by NCB in the drugs angle in Rajput case.

NCB raids Rhea’s Mumbai house in connection with Sushant case

Narcotics Control Bureau got involved in Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case, as a few WhatsApp chats about drugs exchange came to light. The NCB had reportedly filed a case against Rhea Chakraborty, following which her Mumbai residence is now being searched. According to media, five officials from the Narcotics Control Bureau were seen arriving at Rhea’s Mumbai residence on 4 September in the morning.

Apart from Rhea’s home, Sushant Singh Rajput’s friend, Samuel Miranda’s residences is under the scanner and will be inspected by the NCB. Special Delhi NCB team had also arrived at Rhea Chakraborty’s residence on 4 September.

When the WhatsApp chats about drugs were leaked, Rhea Chakraborty’s lawyer, senior advocate Satish Manshinde had stated, “Rhea has never consumed drugs in her life time ever. She’s ready for a blood test any time.” On the other hand, Sushant Singh Rajput’s family lawyer Vikas Singh said, “This statement is not talking about Rhea taking drugs, but about Rhea giving Sushant drugs clandestinely. So her taking or not taking drugs is absolutely immaterial as far as this angle is concerned.”

CBI may arrest Rhea Chakraborty

In a major development in the Sushant death case, sources on 3 September said that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) may arrest Rhea Chakraborty in the case. She could be arrested under Section 306 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for abetment to suicide, according to sources.

During its investigation, the CBI found that Sushant’s condition started to deteriorate after he met Rhea. Rhea Chakraborty and her entire family took drugs and after coming in contact with Sushant, Rhea treated his ‘depression’ with ‘bud’ (marijuana) and intoxicated him.

Sources said that Rhea always kept enough drugs in her house through her brother Showik so that Sushant did not face any problem for intoxication. This is how Sushant got addicted to drugs. Meanwhile, when Sushant’s sisters got to know about Sushant consuming drugs, they urged him to stay away from Rhea, however, Sushant couldn’t live without Rhea.

After this, Sushant’s sisters and Rhea had an argument and Rhea gave an ultimatum to Sushant and said ‘either live with me, marry me or go back to your family’, sources revealed. Sushant started to be less in touch with his family after this, however, his sister used to be worried for him and used to get him to talk to her.
