Sushant case: NCB to question Sara Rakul, Simone

As per the latest reports, Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) will soon summon Shraddha Kapoor in relation with Rhea Chakraborty drug case

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), which is investigating the drug angle in Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, will issue summons to actors Sara Ali Khan, Rakul Preet Singh and designer Simone Khambatta this week.

NCB’s deputy director KPS Malhotra said, “Sara, Rakul, and Simone will be summoned this week.”

The agency will summon them under Section 67 of the The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, after they were named by actor Rhea Chakraborty while she was being interrogated between 6 September and 9 September before being arrested, NCB officials said.

Chakraborty has named the three in her statement, confirmed Malhotra. However, the context in which their names were taken is not clear yet. “Their roles can’t be given right now,” Malhotra said.

Rhea, who is presently lodged in Byculla Jail, had, however, retracted her statements. A special NDPS court had on 11 September rejected bail pleas filed by Rhea and her brother Showik.

NCB to summon Shraddha Kapoor

As per the latest reports, Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) will soon summon Shraddha Kapoor in relation with Rhea Chakraborty drug case. As per NCB sources, the agency will send summon under Section 67 of the NDPS Act to both the actors. On 20 September, it was reported that Delhi High Court has asked to raise the name of Rakul only when it’s official in the case.

Meanwhile, on 17 September, Rakul moved to the Delhi High Court seeking directions not to telecast or publish on TV channels and other platforms any content related to the narcotic drugs case that maligns or slanders her image. Rakul Preet Singh also told the High Court that media reports are being run in contravention with the Information and Broadcasting Ministry guidelines.

A single-judge bench of Justice Navin Chawla issued notice to the Central government, Prasar Bharati, Press Council of India and News Broadcasters Association on the matter and listed it for further hearing on 15 October. The bench also directed the Centre, Prasar Bharati and News Broadcasters Association to consider Rakul Preet Singh’s plea as a representation and expeditiously decide it including any interim directions that ought to be issued.
