Mumbai: Student of the Year is currently being shot in full swing. The film will launch two fresh faces, Tara Sutaria and Ananya Panday into Bollywood. The first and the second schedule of the film was shot in Mussorrie and Dehradhun respectively, after which a few days of shooting happened in Mumbai.

Karan Johar knows exactly when to release a film. His ambitious project Student Of The Year 2 has now been pushed to the summer of 2019. It was earlier expected to hit the theatres on 23 November this year.

“There is a NEW DATE for #SOTY2!!!! The admissions are now in summer 2019!!! Watch this space!” Karan tweeted.

However, now the release date of the film has been shifted to 2019. The makers have not revealed why they have shifted the release date to 10 May 2019, but it can be due to too many big films hitting the theatres in 2018.

The first look of the film was shown on 20 November 2017 by Karan Johar on the official page of Dharma Productions.

The film is a sequel to the 2012 romantic comedy-drama Student Of The Year, which was directed by Karan himself and was the launchpad for Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra in Bollywood.

Student Of The Year 2 is being directed by Punit Malhotra. It stars Tiger Shroff and will launch Tara Sutaria and Ananya Panday. Tiger Shroff will be playing the lead role.

The date change move is likely to have been taken to avoid the clutter during the last quarter of 2018, especially with Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar-starrer sci-fi thriller 2.0 slated to hit the screens on 29 November a week later than the original release date of Student Of The Year 2, film trade sources said.

In 2017, Shroff was brought in as Brand Ambassador and co-owner of Bengaluru Tigers, which is owned by 8K Miles Media Group. The Bengaluru Tigers won the 3rd place in his inaugural season of Super Fight League, the first mixed martial arts (MMA) League in India.
