Mumbai: After playing an army man in his latest film Aiyaary, Sidharth Malhotra is ready to take up a military role once again. He will soon be starting work on Kargil martyr Captain Vikram Batra’s biopic Param Vir Chakra.
The 33-year-old actor will again don the role of an Army officer in Captain Vikram Batra’s biopic, where he will play a double role. While the movie will be lesser a commercial film and focus more on the late captain’s valour, Sidharth hopes that whenever the film comes out the family should be happy and proud.
Sidharth Malhotra started his Bollywood career with Student of the Year has created some well-etched characters Guru in Ek Villain; Kapoor & Sons; Ittefaq and recent release Aiyaary and this variety in roles has been the result of striving to always be different.
Sidharth has already begun prepping up for the movie which is expected to go on floors this summer. His next film joins the long list of Bollywood biopics; this one is on the Kargil martyr, Param Vir Chakra winner Captain Vikram Batra, whose story “means a lot” to Sidharth.
Sidharth said, All my films have been different. When I came to the industry, being a young actor, this was my way of standing out, where I’d try new things and not just bold and edgier films. “We want to work properly on the story. It is not a fictitious story that I want to jump into it. I hope whenever the film comes out the family is happy and proud.”
A biopic needs to mean something. As an actor, I need to feel the connection. A biopic is not a fictitious story. It is based on a real person and I think one needs to handle that with a lot of sensitivity. The character that I’ll be playing next is very sensitive and his story is also quite touching, Sidharth added.
This is not the first time someone is playing the character of Captain Vikram Batra. Before Sidharth, Abhishek Bachchan had played the same character in LOC Kargil.
The movie is about to go on floors but the actor has started prepping up for the role. He went to border areas and met BSF Jawans to see their lifestyle, discipline and how they train.
