Kolkata: Team India’s fast bowler Mohammed Shami has responded to the allegations made by his wife. Last month, his wife Haseen Jahan had lodged a complaint against which a non-bailable arrest warrant was issued against Shami by Kolkata Police on several charges.
Replying to the charges, Mohammed Shami has said that he is prepared to face any legal outcome of the cases but, except for cricket, he is not thinking anything else right now.
Shami said, “I reject all allegations against me and want to focus on my cricket career without worrying about the result. I hope all this will end soon. Everything is just cricket for me. I do not pay attention to allegations. This time, my only goal is to get Kings XI Punjab to be the title of the IPL and after that, my focus will be on doing well in the World Cup for India.”
Last month, the team of beleaguered fast bowler Mohammed Shami once again faced a new set of complainst. On the complaint of his wife, a charge sheet was filed against Shami. On the basis of that, a case of sexual harassment was registered under Section 498A of IPC, harassment for dowry and Section 354A.
Shami’s wife Haseen had made several serious allegations against him like dowry harassment, physical harassment and match-fixing last year. She complained against her husband to his IPL franchise and the cricket authority BCCI too.
Haseen even approached West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee with her complaint.
However, after an investigation into the allegations, the BCCI gave him a clean chit. On Tuesday, the Kolkata Police has filed a charge sheet against him in Alipur.
In the latest complaint, Haseen dragged Shami’s elder brother into the case, complaining when she went to her mother-in-law’s house last year, the elder brother raped her. Haseen Jahan’s lawyer Zakir Hussain said that the police filed a lawsuit against Mohammed Shami under non-bailable Sections of the CrPC.
