Remo D’Souza’s brother-in-law commits suicide

Choreographer-filmmaker Remo D’Souza’s brother-in-law Jason Watkins was found dead at his residence in Millat Nagar. A close friend of the family confirmed the news. A medical officer said that Jason was brought to Cooper hospital and that the Oshiwara are conducting the necessary legal procedure.

He was rushed to the Cooper Hospital where he was declared brought dead, the said.

Watkins’ family members, including his 74-year-old stepfather and sister, told the that he was suffering from depression for the last three years after his mother Daina died.

“Why??????? How could u do this to me… I will never forgive u”, she wrote with the first photo. She shared yet another picture from their childhood and wrote, ‘Why’. In the third picture shared by Lizelle, Jason is seen seating in an auto with their mother. She wrote, “am sorry mum, I failed you”.

The family members said Jason Watkins was addicted to cannabis. They have no complaint against anyone, the said. As per preliminary investigations, Watkins was of late not keeping well. They said he had some health-related issues that may have triggered the suicide. The said there seems prima facie to be no foul play.

A case of accidental death has been registered and the body has been sent to a nearby government hospital for post-mortem.

Remo and Lizelle are currently in Goa where they had gone to attend a wedding.

Jason Watkins had been working in the film industry for quite a few years. He worked as an assistant director on all the projects of Remo D’Souza who was unavailable for comment at the time of drafting of this report.

Remo and Lizelle, who had influenced his decision to convert from Hinduism to Christianity, married 22 years ago. They are parents to two children.
