Raveena takes dig at Nikhil’s wedding during lockdown

Raveena said the poor were not able to meet their families while the rich were breaking rules when the country is hit by COVID-19 outbreak

Bollywood actress Raveena Tandon made a sarcastic remark today about the Friday wedding of Nikhil Kumaraswamy in Karnataka, which allegedly flouted many coronavirus lockdown rules — but then deleted the tweet. Nikhil, son of former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy, tied the knot with Revathi, the grand-niece of former Karnataka housing minister M Krishnappa at a farmhouse.

Raveena said the poor were not able to meet their families while the rich were breaking rules when the country is hit by COVID-19 outbreak

Raveena had written, “Ok. Obviously poor souls are not aware that many in the country not being able to reach their families and are going hungry while the rest are trying to help others override this crisis.” She added, “Wonder what was served in the buffet…” Raveena added the hashtags ‘Social distancing’, ‘Unheeded warnings’ and ‘VIP entitlement’.

There are numerous of instances in many parts of India where rich and powerful people have violated the lockdown protocol. On the other side, hundreds of labourers or daily-wage workers are stranded in every nook and corner of the country due to the unexpected situation and struggling without getting proper food.

Coming back to Nikhil, he tied the knot with Revathi in a simple event at a farm house near Bidadi in Bengaluru. As per the groom’s father and former Karnataka Chief Minister, HD Kumaraswamy, the marriage is being held in the presence of family members and close relatives. Approximately, 50-60 people are attending the wedding.

Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister Ashwath Narayan had said on Thursday that action will be taken against Kumaraswamy “without a second thought” if guidelines are not followed during the wedding. Nikhil has acted in a couple of movies and is also the president of the youth wing of Janata Dal (Secular).

Previously, Raveena had said about the coronavirus pandemic in a social media post, “We have abused this planet so much, that we can’t even step out of our homes. Also, so many maids and drivers, have lost their jobs. I’ve been requesting people to not lay them off as they depend on their salaries.”

On the other hand, Raveena Tandon is returning to Sandalwood with KGF: Chapter 2. She is playing the role of Prime Minister Ramika Sen, who issues death warrant against Rocky Bhai played by Yash.
