Ram Vilas Paswan files nomination papers for Rajya Sabha

Ram Vilas Paswan seeks to fill the vacancy in the Rajya Sabha quota of the NDA that was created by the resignation of Ravi Shankar Prasad who has been elected to the Lok Sabha

Patna: Union food and consumer welfare minister Ram Vilas Paswan filed his nomination papers for Rajya Sabha on Friday. He is an NDA candidate.

Paswan did not contest the Lok Sabha election from his traditional constituency Hajipur, from where his younger brother Pashupati Kumar Paras was elected.

However, today Paswan filed his papers before the returning officer, BD Pande, secretary of Bihar Assembly.

Chief Minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar and BJP State president Nityanand Rai were present on the occasion.

This election was necessitated by the resignation of the Union Law and Justice Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad who was elected to the Lok Sabha last month from Patna Sahib.
