After a large section of the news media quoted Dr Sudhir Gupta, the head of the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) forensic team, selectively, ruling out any murder angle in the mysterious death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, the lawyer of his family, Vikas Singh is “highly perturbed by the findings of AIIMS”. The lawyer has demanded that the constitution of a new forensic team by the Special Investigating Team of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Singh had rightly marked the media reports ruling out the murder theory as “not conclusive” two days ago. He said today that the officials could still treat SSR’s death as a case of murder.
“AIIMS report is not conclusive and CBI in its charge sheet can still file a case of murder in Sushant Singh Rajput death case,” the lawyer had said.
The lawyer of the Rajput family had earlier claimed that an AIIMS doctor had told him that the ligature marks on Sushant’s neck were consistent with strangulation. “AIIMS doctor told me that Sushant’s death was by strangulation,” he had said at a press conference.
The Rajput family through their official Twitter handles marked by the words “United for #SushantSinghRajput” posted today a strong message on the issue too. They wrote, “You don’t work so hard to kill yourself. Ridiculous theory of #SSR doing so.”
Previously, Sushant’s sister Shweta had tweeted: “The test of faith is when you can stay strong and unshaken during the testing time… I urge my extended family to have faith in God and pray from all your heart… Pray that the truth comes out. #AllEyesOnCBI.”
Sushant’s ex-girlfriend, Ankita Lokhande, reposted Shweta’s message with the same hashtag.
Meanwhile, news agency PTI quoted Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh — seen hobnobbing with Uddhav Thackeray’s family at an inopportune time after the death of Sushant Singh Rajput — as, “Without knowing anything about our investigation and without having seen our report, some vested interests criticised our investigation. We all stand vindicated by these findings of AIIMS.”
Elsewhere, suspect Rhea Chakraborty’s lawyer Satish Maneshinde is not taking the media reports on their face value either. Maneshinde said that he would await the CBI’s report. “I have seen the statement of the doctors from AIIMS concerning SSR case. The official papers and report are only with AIIMS and CBI, which will be submitted in court once investigations are over. We await the official version of CBI. We on behalf of Rhea Chakraborty have always said that truth cannot be changed under any circumstances. The speculations against Rhea in some quarters of the media are motivated and mischievous. We remain committed to Truth Alone. Satya Meva Jayte,” read his statement.
