New Delhi: Team India will take on Ireland in a two-match T20I series first, they will travel to England to play three T20Is, which will be followed by a three-match ODIs and a five-match Test series.
The national selection committee met to pick 6 squads on Tuesday. They picked the Test team against Afghanistan, the squad for the 2-match T2OI series against Ireland, 3-match T20I series against England, 3-match ODI series against England
India axe one of their No.4 batting candidates Ajinkya Rahane from the ODI squad to play in England in July. KL Rahul, who is in the middle of a splendid IPL season, makes his way back while 27-year-old Punjab speedster Siddarth Kaul has been included in both the ODI and T20I squads.
Rahane was tasked with making the No. 4 position his own earlier this year in South Africa, after a host of options since the 2017 Champions Trophy didn’t live up to expectations.
Ambati Rayudu, who had been sidelined from the Indian team, has been brought back. Shreyas Iyer, who was part of the limited-overs team in South Africa, continues to be in the squad while pacer Siddarth Kaul has been handed a maiden India call-up.
The faith in Kaul also stems from his exceptional performance for Sunrisers Hyderabad – he picked 16 wickets in 10 games last season and has 13 in the 10 so far in the ongoing season.
