Kolkata: Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Suresh Prabhu said here on Saturday that the government is developing a district-based development model to achieve overall growth in the country.
Addressing a session, Prabhu said that for this, six districts have been selected from different parts of the country. He said, “Overall, the country’s GDP will increase and the private sector will have to invest in order to support it.”
Prabhu said that the industry will have to invest because with the help of the service sector the growth will not be strong. He said that the new industrial policy is ready with the government.
Prabhu said, “India needs to be integrated with the global economy and there is no reason why India’s exports cannot reach $ 540 billion. This will only happen when India is integrated with the global economy.”
“Delighted to address the seminar on Perspectives on
#NewIndia to the patient audience in Kolkata. Shared my insights on India’s strength as an economic power,” the minister tweeted from Kolkata.
