Mumbai: Padmaavat may have faced protests and hurdles in the beginning but it continues to shatter records at the box office collection. The movie has collected Rs 236 crore at the ticket window. With this total, the film has surpassed the lifetime business of Salman Khan’s Kick 233 crore and has now become the ninth highest grosser of all time.

Starring Deepika Padukone as Rani Padmavati, Shahid Kapoor as Maharawal Ratan Singh and Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji, the film was mired into controversy after Karni Sena raised their objections towards the content of the film and an apparent dream sequence between Deepika and Ranveer.
Padmaavat became controversial during production itself. There were allegations that the film depicts factual inaccuracies, portraying the Rajput queen Padmavati in a bad light, with activists vandalising the sets of the film.
The movie, which was earlier titled Padmavati, got released on 25 January, in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil with the title change suggested by the censor board.
Kick released on 25 July 2014 in about 5,000 screens worldwide, produced and directed by Sajid Nadiadwala under his Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment banner.
It is an official remake of the 2009 Telugu movie Kick and Tamil movie Thillalangadi. The film featured Salman Khan, Jacqueline Fernandez and Randeep Hooda in the lead roles and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, portraying the main antagonist of the film.
