OFBJP campaign in Nigeria to boost support for PM Modi

Sanjay Srivastava, president, Overseas Friends of BJP, Nigeria, spoke to Sirf News in a freewheeling interview

Abuja/New Delhi: To highlight the achievements of the government in the last five years and boost support for BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Overseas Friends of BJP (OFBJP), is organising a series of events — RUN4UNITY, Bhartiya Sanskriti Diwas (on 27th April) and Chai Pe Charcha every weekend with its active and enthusiastic teammates.

‘NaMo Again’ T-shirts are already trending globally and supporters are also not far behind.

OFBJP describes itself as an organisation of non-residential Indians and other people of Indian origin dedicated to spreading the ideals of BJP. It has a separate chapter for every country where it is present.

The Lok Sabha polls 2019, the mega-festival of the biggest democracy in the world, is currently underway in India in a phased manner. Electioneering for the remaining five phases of polling has now reached a feverish pitch. Leaders of political parties have intensified their efforts to woo the voters.

A pro-incumbency wave is seemingly prevalent in the country. And the ‘magic of Modi’ can also be felt overseas where lakhs of people of Indian origin reside. Indian diaspora in is also excited about the general elections back in India. They believe that India can make huge economic and social progress under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

And, they are doing whatever they can do to see PM Modi re-elected so that his development programmes can continue. “The reputation of Indians has improved tremendously across the globe due to his multidimensional engagements with various governments and Indians living in those countries,” said an NRI.

Sanjay Srivastava, president, OFBJP, Nigeria, told Sirf News in a freewheeling interview that the Indians living outside India are as exuberant and connected to their country of origin for this democratic process.

The OFBJP head feels that the Indian community living across the globe is in itself a big constituency and present government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has excellently connected with them.

The OFBJP head further said that the current dispensation has been agile in their delivery right from the first day and made Indians living abroad a proud community. “Recent India Africa Forum Summit (IAFS),  which was attended by 54 countries, is a testimony of the commitment of the government under PM Modi,” he opined.

“One of the main features of this government has been the speedy implementation of infrastructure projects related to Road, Power, Railway and Space. ‘Swachh Bharat Mission- Sanitation Project’ has been a cornerstone of being the biggest cultural change initiative to enhance the cleanliness, eliminate open defecation and improved hygiene which has resulted in improvement in child mortality rate,” the OFBJP head added.

Even Federal Minister of Water Resources of has taken a leaf out of this grand initiative of India and soon Nigerian officials will study this and adopt the same in the Nigerian context, he concluded.
