496 passengers being tracked for Ebola Virus Disease

61 passengers enrolled for follow up through State IDSP units

During past 24 hours, 145 passengers have arrived at the Airports of Mumbai (49), Delhi (53), Chennai (12), Kochi (11), Bangalore (14) and Ahmedabad (6). Five passengers were found to have contact history with EVD positive case. Their details have been passed on to IDSP for further tracking and necessary ‘contact’ management.

Indian Medical Association has been apprised to create awareness among its members on Ebola Virus Disease. A meeting took place today between IMA and Health Ministry functionaries.

The cum Isolation Health Facility at Delhi Airport has not admitted any suspect case for observation/ testing today.

The Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) is tracking such passengers, the details of which are provided to them by the Airport Health Organization. Today, 61 passengers were enrolled for follow up in their respective States through State IDSP units. As on date, a cumulative number of 496 passengers are being tracked. Most of them are in the States of Maharashtra, Kerala and Tamil Nadu

The control room in the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has received 619 calls since its inception in the morning of 9 August and only 19 calls received in the past 24 hours. Most of the callers have sought information on signs and symptoms of the disease and related risk of acquiring the infection.
