The sensational Ballabhgarh case of love jihad has now taken a political turn after it was revealed that the accused Tauseef belongs to a family of politicians of the Indian National Congress (INC). Tauseef has been accused of killing 21-year-old Nikita Tomar on 26 October afternoon outside her college.
Soon after the incident, police launched a manhunt and arrested the suspects. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has assured justice saying, “The culprit in the Ballabhgarh incident has been arrested. Strict action will be taken against the culprit.”
Now an INC connection to the accused has surfaced. As per the sources, accused Tauseef is the son of Zakir, uncle of Aftab Ahmed, INC MLA from Nuh. Tauseef’s late grandfather Kabir Ahmed was a former INC MLA from Tawadu while his late Uncle Khurshid Ahmad was the Finance, Education Minister and MP of Haryana.
Tauseef’s uncle Javed expressed grief before reporters over the Nikita Tomar’s death. He said, “Touseef and the girl both are young and have studied together in the past. The police is investigating the case and whoever is at fault, will be in front of everyone.”
Javed revelled about their political background and connection with the grand-old party. “We have all progressed on the basis of religion and caste. My father Kabir Ahmed has been an MLA twice, one of my brother is an MLA and my nephew Aftab Ahmed is currently an MLA, who has served as the transport minister in the Congress Government,” Tauseef’s Uncle Javed said.
Tauseef shot dead the 21-year-old B Com final year student Nikita in a brazen act after appearing for an exam on 26 October. The family members of the girl have alleged that Tuseef pressured her to convert to Islam and upon denying, he tried to abduct her. On being unable to capture her, he shot her dead. The victim had reportedly filed a complaint against the accused few years ago.
Nikita’s family has now said that the boy was harassing her for several years, so much so that they had to file an FIR against him in 2018. Following this, the police arrested Tauseef, as a result of which he could not complete his medical studies, according to sources.
The girl’s parents were of the opinion that the issue was over after they withdrew the case at the behest of the boy’s pleading parents.
The fate of Nikita
A final year commerce student, Nikita was killed on 26 October afternoon right outside her college in Faridabad’s Ballabhgarh where she had gone for an examination.
CCTV footage from a camera outside the college showed Tauseef and his friend Rehan trying to force her into their car, and when she resisted, the former shot her from point blank range.
According to ACP Ballabgarh Jaiveer Rathi, both Tauseef and Rehan were waiting in the car for her exit the college premises. After the shooting, they both fled the scene, while the 21-year-old succumbed to her injuries.
“Nikita had come to college for an exam. Accused, Tauseef, whom she knew, tried to speak to her and then shot her,” Rathi said, according to news agency.
The police have sent both the accused to two days judicial custody.
