NCB to seek further custody of Shah Rukh’s son Aryan Khan

A Bollywood troll army is trending 'We stand with Shah Rukh Khan' on Twitter as NCB seeks his son’s custody while the family applies for bail

Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan and others arrested for possession and consumption of contraband headed to the court this morning, escorted by cops. As the media was yet to hear from the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), the paparazzi chased Shah Rukh Khan’s wife Gauri while she was leaving their Bandra Mannat and heading towards the court.

Earlier yesterday, the NCB arrested all eight persons who were detained in connection with the Mumbai cruise party raid. Three accused including Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan, Arbaz Seth Merchant, and Munmun Dhamecha were remanded to NCB custody by the Esplanade Court in Mumbai till today.

The NCB arrested other suspects Nupur Satija, Ishmeet Singh Chadha, Mohak Jaiswal, Gomit Chopra and Vikrant Chhokar. They will be produced before the court today after their medical tests.

The NCB has taken into custody a drug peddler following a series of raids in Bandra, Andheri, and Lokhandwala, late on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday.

Meanwhile, the NCB took the arrested men for a medical check-up to JJ Hospital before producing them before the court.

As NCB Director Sameer Wankhede reached the agency office, sources said the agency would seek further custody of Aryan Khan while he seeks bail.

At the court, Aryan Khan’s advocate Satish Maneshinde argued that his client had been invited to the event being held on the cruise by the organisers. “No incriminating material has been recovered from him (Aryan Khan). There is no possession or evidence of consumption,” he said.

“Although the sections under which Aryan Khan has been booked are all bailable offences, I am willing to settle for one day’s NCB custody so that we can file for bail before the regular court,” Maneshinde submitted.

The NCB had said yesterday that it had evidence to show the existence of a nexus between those the agency had arrested and some suppliers and peddlers of drugs.

In the meantime, the celebrity circuit’s show of solidarity has surfaced. Yesterday, #JayaBachchan trended on Twitter as the actress-turned-politician lent her moral support to the Khan family. She was reminded of her recent parliamentary history when she had abused Ravi Kishan without naming him, saying, “कुछ लोग जिस थाली में खाते हैं उसी में छेड़ करते हैं,” implying that the actor of Bhojpuri films was betraying his professional fraternity after the BJP MP raised the issue of the mysterious death of Sushant Singh in the Lok Sabha.

Today, filmmaker Hansal Mehta said he supported Shah Rukh Khan whose son Aryan Khan had been arrested. He said, “It is painful for a parent to have to deal with a child getting into trouble.”

Bollywood‘s PR machinery has sprung into action too. It employed a big troll to trend “We stand with Shah Rukh Khan” on Twitter amid Aryan Khan’s drug consumption scandal.
