The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on 3 June summoned Sushant Singh Rajput’s bodyguard for the second day in a row, in the drug case linked to the late actor’s death. Earlier, on 2 June, NCB had questioned the actor’s bodyguard in the drugs case linked to his death. Apart from that NCB arrested a drug peddler named Harish Khan in the drugs case linked to the actor’s death. The NCB had also probed Sushant’s former domestic helps ― Neeraj and Keshav, on 30 May.
On 26 May, the NCB Mumbai unit arrested Sushant Singh Rajput’s flatmate Siddharth Pithani from Hyderabad and brought him to Mumbai on a transit warrant obtained from a local court there.
Pithani was booked under multiple sections of the NDPS Act, 1985. Following his arrest, a Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court in Mumbai on Friday remanded Pithani to the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) custody till 1 June.
The NCB, which has been probing the drugs angle in the actor’s death case, started the investigation after it received official communication from the Enforcement Directorate (ED), in which there were various chats related to drug consumption, procurement, usage and transportation.
The ED had on 31 July last year registered an Enforcement Case Information Report in the late actor’s death case after a First Information Report (FIR) was filed by Rajput’s father KK Singh against actor Rhea Chakraborty in Bihar on 28 July.
The NCB carried out another arrest, of drug peddler Haris Khan. While the arrest was over his alleged links with drug peddler Parvez Khan alias Chinku Pathan, said to connect to fugitive underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, the bureau is investigating his association to the Sushant Singh Rajput case too, officials said.
The NCB had recorded over 200 witnesses in the investigation of the case, which have over 33 accused persons, as revealed in the the12,000-page charge sheet filed by the agency in March. This included the likes of Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik, and members of Sushant Singh Rajput’s staff.
Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his Mumbai residence on 14 June last year.
