Rajasthan Police has arrested a Muslim private tutor on the charge of raping a 6-year-old girl in Village Kotsuwa, District Kota, on 15 November. A special court dealing with cases registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has remanded suspect AbdurRahim (43) in judicial custody, they added.
The Muslim teacher used to provide private tuition for Urdu to children, living in a room allotted by the local madrassah (Islamic school). He hails from Rampura in Kota, police said.
The parents of the six-year-old girl got a complaint lodged against the Muslim tutor at the Digod police station late on 14 November, alleging that AbdurRahim asked her to stay back at the madrassah while asking the other students to leave after the class on 13 November afternoon and subsequently, raped her.
On reaching home, the girl narrated her ordeal to her parents, police said.
The Muslim tutor was arrested soon after the case was lodged, they said, adding that he has been booked under Indian Penal Code section 376 (rape) and the relevant sections of the POCSO Act. Within 24 hours of the alleged heinous crime, the suspect was arrested and produced in a court which remanded him to judicial custody.
The girl was sent for medical examination and her statement was recorded under section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), police said.
This comes days after a six-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 26-year-old man in the Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh. The suspects, identified as Shahbaz, committed the crime when the minor was on her way to school. He allegedly lured her to a dilapidated building and sexually assaulted her. The survivor later returned home and told her parents about the incident, following which a case was registered and the suspects was arrested.
