Mumbai Police writes to Yash Raj Films for copy of contract with Sushant

Mumbai Police said that investigators sought to learn the nature of the contract with YRF and how many films Rajput was to make with them

Mumbai Police on Thursday asked Yash Raj Films to submit a copy of the contract signed between the film production house and Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput in connection to the latter’s suicide investigation. The actor had worked in two YRF films – Shuddh Desi Romance (2013) and Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! (2015).

A senior Mumbai Police officer said that investigators sought to learn the nature of the contract with YRF and how many films Rajput was to make with them. The 34-year-old had worked in two YRF productions.

Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh announced that the Mumbai Police would investigate reports that professional rivalry might have pushed actor Sushant Singh Rajput to take his own life.

Police have directed that the contract copy must be submitted soon while interrogation with Rajput’s friend and actor Rhea Chakroborty is underway. Riya Chakraborty, a close friend of Sushant Singh Rajput, had reached the police station at 11 am on Thursday and her questioning lasted for more than 10 hours.

Mumbai Police said, Rajput had a “special telescope” placed in his residence as he loved observing planets and stars. Sushant’s financial condition was also good. He had had an expenditure of at least 10 lakhs per month – 4 and a half lakhs were being paid by him as rent for his Bandra residence.

On Thursday, the police recorded statements of Sushant’s PR manager Radhika Nihalani and former business manager Shruti Modi. The officer added that Modi had worked with Rajput between July 2019 and February this year, overseeing his work in his final film, Chhichhore, which released last year.

Modi also told officials at Bandra police station that Rajput was in the process of registering a company named Nation India For World to undertake social activities like relief work and tree plantation drives and another one named Vivid Rage Realistic to create virtual reality content. “Rajput had been exploring several ideas aside from films. We will speak to a lawyer Rajput had engaged to register the firms,” said the officer. On Thursday afternoon, the police also summoned actress Rhea Chakraborty, who was known to be close to Rajput. Her statement was still being recorded till late on Thursday night.

Sushant also took a farmhouse on rent near Pavana Dam, Lonavla, for which he paid several lakhs. The late actor also possessed many luxurious vehicles. So far, the statements of 13 people have been recorded in connection with the case. Mumbai Police is also investigating the allegations related to nepotism in the Hindi film industry.

Suicide or Murder?, Film on Sushant Singh Rajput life

Sushant, 34, died by suicide on Sunday. He was said to be under stress and depression for some months. His sudden death has sent shockwaves across the nation. India has been mourning the much-adored star with heart-warming posts.

Not even a week is passed by and a filmmaker has already thought to make a movie on the life of late Sushant Singh Rajput, which is Titled Suicide or Murder: A Star Was Lost, the film is made by Shamik Maulik and is based on how actors with no film background are treated by the film industry when they try to make their career in the movie world.

 According to the director of Suicide or Murder: A Star Was Lost– Shamik Maulik, he is intending to expose Bollywood with his film. He says that It’s more about showing how prevalent nepotism is and how the lobbying machinery works inside the Hindi Film Industry where opportunities are snatched from the hands of those who deserve and are given to those who have connections.

Sushant was born in the capital city of Bihar, Patna. He found his passion for acting and said, “I found the experience liberating. I realized that I could communicate with the audience. I knew I wanted to do this forever.”

Sushant Singh Rajput was the star of film such as Kai Po Che!, Shuddh Desi Romance, MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, Sonchiriya, Kedarnath and Chhichore. He debuted in Bollywood in 2013. Prior to making a career in films, he ruled the TV industry with his blockbuster show Pavitra Rishta.
