“If you portray Gandhiji’s murderer as a hero, it’s not acceptable. Our country is known through Gandhi and his ideology. He is celebrated worldwide. Congress will oppose it,” ANI quoted Nana Patole as saying.
The Maharashtra Congress chief further stated that he will request Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray not to allow the release of the movie titled Why I killed Gandh in the state.

Meanwhile, the All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding a complete ban on the movie Why I Killed Gandhi as the film glorifies Godse.
“All Indian Cine Workers Association demands a complete ban on the movie Why I Killed Gandhi which is to be released on OTT Platform in India on 30 January 2022, as this movie glorifies Nathuram Godse the traitor and killer of the father of nation Mahatma Gandhiji. Gandhiji is someone who is admired by entire INDIA and the world, Gandhiji’s Ideology is a symbol of Love and Sacrifice for each and every Indian,” the letter reads.
Facing flak over his portrayal of Nathuram Godse, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Lok Sabha Member of Parliament and actor Amol Kolhe on Saturday asserted that he is a “firm believer” in Gandhian thoughts and maintained he took up the controversial role only to challenge himself as an artiste.
