New Delhi — Figures of 8 core industries that comprise nearly 38% of the weight of items included in the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) were tabled on Parliament yesterday, which showed that the combined index stood at 171.2 in June, 2015, which was 3.0% higher compared to the index of June, 2014. Its cumulative growth during April to June, 2015-16 was 2.4%.

Coal production (weight: 4.38%) increased by 6.3% in June, 2015 over June, 2014. Its cumulative index during April to June, 2015-16 increased by 7.3% over corresponding period of previous year.

Crude oil production (weight: 5.22%) declined by 0.7% in June, 2015 over June, 2014. Its cumulative index during April to June, 2015-16 declined by 0.9% over the corresponding period of previous year.

The natural gas production (weight: 1.71%) declined by 5.9% in June, 2015. Its cumulative index during April to June, 2015-16 declined by 4.2% over the corresponding period of previous year.

Petroleum refinery production (weight: 5.94%) increased by 7.5% in June, 2015. Its cumulative index during April to June, 2015-16 increased by 4.2% over the corresponding period of previous year.

Cement production (weight: 2.41%) increased by 2.6% in June, 2015. Its cumulative index during April to June, 2015-16 increased by 0.9%over the corresponding period of previous year.

Electricity generation (weight: 10.32%) increased by 0.2% in June, 2015. Its cumulative index during April to June, 2015-16 increased by1.5% over the corresponding period of previous year.

 Note 1: Data are provisional. Revision has been made based on revised data received for corresponding month of previous year in respect of Coal, Crude Oil, Natural Gas, Refinery Product, Steel, Cement and Electricity. Accordingly, indices for the month June, 2014 have been revised.

Note 2: Release of the index for July, 2015 will be on Monday, 31 August, 2015.
