Miffed with Priyanka, Congress district president quits party with many office bearers

Priyanka Gandhi-Vadra had allegedly told Neelam Mishra, district Congress committee president, along with many party workers, before a crowd if the latter felt humiliated, she couldn’t care less

Bhadohi: Upset over a remark by Congress general secretary and party in-charge in eastern Uttar Pradesh Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Bhadohi district Congress committee president Neelam Mishra and many of her fellow workers left the party on Saturday.

Mishra alleged that Gandhi-Vadra had humiliated her, which was why many office bearers and leaders of the district Congress committee had to resign from the party’s primary membership.

Mishra alleged that, after the election meeting here on Friday, she had complained to Gandhi-Vadra that Ramakant Yadav, the candidate from Bhadohi, was not keeping pace with the district Congress committee in the election campaign. Mishra alleged further that passes were not provided to the office-bearers of the party for the previous rally.

Mishra alleged that Gandhi-Vadra raised her voice in front of the crowd and said, “If you are feeling humiliated, so be it.” Apart from this, Gandhi-Vadra insulted the party’s district unit officials with offensive words before a crowd.

Mishra said that her companions and she now support the coalition candidate Ranganath Mishra in the Bhadohi Lok Sabha seat to be held on 12 May.

Concerned about the untoward development, Congress district vice president Mushir said that many office bearers, including district president Neelam Mishra, have taken the step in haste.

said that Mishra should have waited until the election was over.
