Madame Tussauds Museum shifts Harry-Meghan statue

The museum has separated Prince Harry and Meghan's statue from those of the remaining members of the British royal family, stopping short of removing it altogether

After the announcement by Britain‘s Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Merkel that they are relinquishing seniority from the royal family, while the world discussed the development, the Madame Tussauds Museum, which holds wax figures of important people around the world, separated Prince Harry and Meghan’s statue from those of other members of the royal family. Earlier, the effigies of both shared a cabin with the statues of Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip, Prince Charles, Prince William and his wife Kate.

Prince Harry is the grandson of Queen Elizabeth II. He is the number six contender for the British throne after his father Prince Charles, brother Prince William and his three children.

Harry and Meghan on Thursday said on their website and Instagram that they were stepping down from the post of ‘senior’ members of the royal family and were planning to become financially self-reliant.

Prince Harry and Meghan were married in May 2018. At that time, about £ 32 million (approximately Rs 297 crore) were spent on his marriage. Additionally, both of them invested £ 2.4 million (about Rs 22 crore) in the renovation of their house at Windsor Palace recently.

More than 250 celebrities in Madame Tussauds Museum

The Madame Tussauds Museum currently houses more than 250 wax mannequins from celebrities around the world. According to Steve Davis, manager of the Madame Tussauds Museum, “Like the whole world, we are reacting to this surprising decision by Harry and Meghan.”

They are both quite popular. In such a situation, they will not be excluded from the Madame Tussauds Museum. They will stay here. However, it remains to be seen what happens next.

According to reports, Prince Harry and Meghan did not discuss this with any member of the royal family. There are also reports of the Queen expressing displeasure at his decision. At the same time, Prince Harry’s brother Prince William is also said to be angry with this decision.

Son to grow up in the UK, North America

Prince Harry and Meghan Merkel were married in May 2018. Queen Elizabeth II of Britain gave the title of Duke and Duchess of Sussex to her grandson Prince Harry and his bride Meghan Merkel as part of Britain’s royal wedding tradition. Prince Harry’s wife Meghan Merkel gave birth to a son on 5 May. This child was named Archie.

Harry and Meghan wrote on Instagram that after several months of thinking and mutual conversation, we made this decision. They wrote, “After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution. We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen. It is with your encouragement, particularly over the last few years, that we feel prepared to make this adjustment.”

“We now plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honour our duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages. This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity. We look forward to sharing the full details of this exciting next step in due course, as we continue to collaborate with Her Majesty The Queen, The Prince of Wales, The Duke of Cambridge and all relevant parties. Until then, please accept our deepest thanks for your continued support,” the message concluded thus.
