The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare had released another list earlier this month, saying that nearly 100 countries had agreed to the mutual acceptance of vaccination certificates of India’s Covid-19 vaccines and the vaccination process.

Union Health Minister said the union government was engaged in talks with the rest of the world so that beneficiaries of the world’s largest Covid-19 vaccination program were accepted and recognised to ease travel for education, business and tourism purposes.

India will resume scheduled international flights from 15 December after the coronavirus-induced suspension, the aviation ministry said today. The Ministry of Civil Aviation said the matter of resumption of scheduled commercial international passenger services had been examined in consultation with the Ministry of Home Affairs, the MEA and the MoHFW. “The matter of resumption of scheduled commercial international passenger services to and from India has been examined in consultation with the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and it has been decided that scheduled commercial international passenger services to and from India may be resumed from 15 December 2021,” the statement read.

The announcement comes two days after Ministry of Civil Aviation Secretary Rajiv Bansal said international flight operations are expected to return to normalcy soon, “by the end of this year”.

Scheduled international flights were suspended in India since 23 March 2020, after a nationwide lockdown was announced by the union government in view of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) had on 29 October extended the ban on scheduled international commercial passenger flights to and from India until 30 November.

On the basis of reciprocity, the travellers from all such countries which provide -free entry to Indians are allowed certain relaxations on arrival (Category A countries), the read.

If a traveller is fully vaccinated and coming from a country with which India has reciprocal arrangements for mutual acceptance of WHO approved Covid-19 vaccines, they shall be allowed to leave the airport and need not undergo home quarantine. They shall self-monitor their health for 14 days’ post-arrival.
