Kashmir: Two terrorist inventories, hideouts unearthed

The second combing operation in Kashmir yielded terrorists' Sopore hideout today after their Baramulla inventory was busted yesterday

Security forces on Saturday recovered huge amounts of arms and ammunition in the dense forests of Dalri in northern Kashmir’s Baramulla district and Sunday discovered a hideout of terrorists in the Radiabad area of Sopore in Kashmir. The forces have thus succeeded in thwarting the plot of a big terror attack.

A joint operation by 32 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Special Operation Group (SOG) and 92nd battalion of the CRPF unearthed this terror factory in the Baramulla district.

Security forces had got a tip-off that terrorists were maintaining an inventory in this part of Kashmir. Acting on the information, a search operation was started by 32 Rashtriya Rifles and the Special Operations Group (SOG) in the dense forests.

The security forces found the location of the terrorists. During the search, it was found that this was a hideout for five terrorists.

Two AK 47 rifles, three RPGs, 2000 AK-47 bullets, three wireless sets, warm clothes and other items of war were recovered from the search. The terrorists had but fled the hideout before the security forces arrived.

Police said that this operation was started in the morning and ended with the recovery of arms in the afternoon.

It is clear from the recovered weapons that the terrorists in Kashmir were trying to carry out a major attack.

Police said that security has been increased in the area so that any movement of the terrorists could be tracked down and the terrorists killed.

The police registered a case after seizing incriminating material from the hideout. An investigation has been initiated to find out how such a large stockpile of weapons made its way deep into Kashmir.

The terrorist hideout appeared old. Clothes and ammunition recovered from it were torn and rusted.

The Sunday operation was carried out hours after Pakistan violated ceasefire along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir for the second consecutive day, targeting forward posts of the Indian Army.
