Mumbai: Actor John Abraham is producing his next film based on the successful nuclear test conducted in Pokhran by the then Atal Behari Vajpayee government in 1998. John will also play the lead role in the film.

John’s JA Entertainment has produced films like Vicky Donor and Madras Cafe. For his new venture, his JA entertainment has joined hands with Kriaj Entertainment for the film. The title of the film is yet to be decided.

“I have never been in a hurry to produce films, I have been reading and searching for subjects that are disruptive yet engaging; stories must resonate with current social political economic mood of the country, and finding (sic) stories that reflect this takes time, this film fits perfectly with my pursuit,” John said in a statement.

The script has been written by Saiwyn Quadros and Sanyuktha Chawla Shaikh, the writing team of Neerja. Tere Bin Laden director Abhishek Sharma has been researching on the particular subject for over 3 years now. “I am glad to collaborate with John on this film. His involvement as an actor and a producer adds great value and credibility to my vision,” said Sharma.

The shooting for the movie will start from 20 April and will release on 8 December. “This story is one of the resilience and gumption that was shown by our national agencies to achieve one of the most critical achievements of the 20th century for our country. This will be our tribute to those men and women who selflessly serve our country and do not expect any accolades in return,” said Arjun Kapoor of Kriaj Entertainment.
