Jharkhand places bounties on Maoist heads

Giridih: DGP of Jharkhand DK Pandey has today announced revised bounties on the heads of Maoist terrorists active in the State. He read out the names in a press conference held by the police in Giridih.

According to the new list, Prayag Manjhi must be caught dead or alive for a prize money of Rs 1 crore. Getting Sunil Kisku or Ajay Mahato will fetch the bounty hunter Rs 25 Lakh. The reward for information on Anal da alias Prateek Manjhi is Rs 25 lakh, too, as is the prize for Balbir Mahato.

The heads of Ram Dayal and Prashant Manjhi would go for Rs 10 lakh each. Nunuchand Mahato, Deendayal Manjhi and Avinash Manjhi carry bounties of Rs 5 lakh each.

The DGP of Jharkhand was earlier an ADG at the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), whose sepoys are constantly targeted by Maoist militants by ambush.

Prayag Manjhi was once captured and convicted. He was released from the jail in 2015. As he renewed his mission of terror immediately, a bounty of Rs 1 crore was announced on his head in July 2015. He is a member of the politburo of Communist Party of India (Maoist).

Ajay Mahto, Nunuchand Manjhi, Prashant Manjhi, Vivek, Anal da, Krishna Hemram, Ranvijay Mahto, Babu Ram Manjhi, etc are commanders of the CPI(Maoist).

Kisku is a trainer of the rogue outfit’s “Ayodhya Squad”. Anal da, like Karan da and Kishan da, are Maoist commanders of Lugu Pahadi (Jharkhand-Bengal). Their comrades add the Bengali honorific “da” to these names because of the linguistic identity of these militants.

Nunuchand Mahato is an aide of Ajay Mahato, a regional committee secretary of CPI(Maoist). Deendayal Manjhi is an outcast from the gang of Ajay Mahato.

Other Maoist terrorists active in Jharkhand are Misir Besra, Asim Mondal, Dev Kumar Singh alias Arvind, Umesh Yadav, Gautam Paswan, Chaman, Sunil Murmu, Pradyumna Sharma, Nandalal Manjhi, Jaya, Ajit Uraon, Birsai ji, Anuj, Lalchand Hembram, Vijay Yadav, Rahul Karuna, Saurav Yadav, Dinesh Gope, Sandip da, Raghunath Hembram, Sanjay Mahato, Buddheshwar Mahato, Nakul Yadav, Naveen, Kundan Pahan, Kanhu Ram Munda, Chhotu ji, Dimba Pahan, Ranvijay Mahato, Abhyas Bhuian, Madan Mahato, Murad ji, Santu, Kundan Yadav, Suresh Singh, Paramjeet, Budhan Mian, Ramdayal Mahato, Mrityunjay, Balram Uraon, Ravindra Ganjhu, Sahdev Rai, Kanchan Yadav, Deepak Yadav, Kalika ji, Enul Mian, Nitesh Yadav, Ramesh Ganjhu, Meghnath Singh Kherwar, Manohar Ganjhu, Muneshwar Ganjhu, Alok Ram, Amit Munda, Maharaj Pramanik, Jeevan Kandulna, Sudhir Kisku, Mochhu, Bhushan Yadav, Deepak Uraon, Nawal Bhuian, Shivlal Yadav, Deepak ji, Vishwanath Bhuian, Ambar Ganjhu, Agnu Ganjhu, Balak Ganjhu, Tyagi Bhokta, Vimal Yadav, Amarjeet Yadav, Suresh Bhuian, Bachchan Yadav, Ugeshwar Yadav, Baleshwar Uraon, Sudarshan, Bhanu Singh Kharwar, Deepak Kharwar, Gulshan Singh Munda, Pradeep Singh, Sanjay Korva, Shahdev Yadav, Godrai Yadav, Krish Munda, Kande Honhanga, Shivpujan Yadav, Madan Yadav, Pintu Rana, Sahebram Manjhi, Ajay Yadav, Charlis, Raghu Chamar, Damodar Yadav, Bharat Kherwar, Surendra Yadav, Bachchan Rajwar, Binod Das, Santosh Bhokta, Nankuriyar, Khudi Munda, Santosh Yadav, Shyam Pahan, Arvind Bhuian, Sitaram Rajwar and Rakesh Bhuian.

The second largest communist terrorist group in the area is the People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI) headed by a former soldier Dinesh Gope who alleges that he had left the Army, 3 years into the service, upon seeing his senior rape a woman in Ladakh. There is no documentary evidence supporting the allegation. The PLFI militants, other than Gope, active in the area are Martin Kerketta, Samir ji, Kargil Yadav and Tilakeshwar Gope.

Then there are gangs called Jharkhand Jana Mukti Parishad, Pahadi Cheetah, Shanti Sena and Jairam Sahu Giroh that sometimes collaborate with the police and at other times turn renegade.
