Four terrorists more terrorists were killed in Jammu and Kashmir today after yesterday’s elimination of five Hizb ul Mujahideen militants. Security forces killed these four today in an encounter in the Pinjora area of District Shopian. The forces are trying to ascertain the identities of the eliminated terrorists. Three soldiers sustained minor injuries in the encounter.
“All four terrorists killed in another Police operation launched this early morning today along with Army and CRPF units. They belong to Hizbul Mujahideen and two are high ranking and old ones. With this 9 terrorists of HM outfit have been killed in the last 24 hours,” said Jammu and Kashmir DGP Dilbag Singh.
“A joint operation was launched in the early hours today on intelligence input by JK Police. Cordon was laid and contact was established with the terrorists. Firefight ensued. Four terrorists have been eliminated. A joint operation is in progress,” Indian Army officials said.
“Encounter has started at Pinjora village of Shopian district of South Kashmir Police and security forces are on the job,” Jammu and Kashmir Police said earlier in the morning.
A group of four terrorists belonging to a joint group of Hizb ul Mujahideen (HM) and Jaish e Mohammad (JeM) is reportedly trapped in the area. The four terrorists are hiding in a small village in the area and contact has been established with the hiding terrorists.
This is the second encounter within a span of 24 hours in the Shopian area of the Kashmir Valley. Yesterday, a major operation in Shopian resulted in neutralising five Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists, including a top commander of the banned outfit. The security forces launched an operation based on specific inputs regarding the presence of terrorists in the area. The militants opened fire and in the resulting exchange that ensued, five dreaded terrorists were killed.
The killing of five terrorists has come as a big success for the Indian forces that neutralised as many as 80 terrorists this year, among which 21 were top commanders of various terror outfits.
Meanwhile, Pakistan violated ceasefire along the Line of Control in the Keran and Rampur sectors of Kupwara and Baramula districts yesterday.
