In this function held at the Constitution Club, New Delhi, on 9 August, Ram Jethmalani accused P Chidambaram and his son of stashing black money abroad via NDTV’s subsidiaries and Rajiv Gandhi of hiding billions overseas. The eminent lawyer also accused NDA Government ministers Arun Jaitley and Sushma Swaraj of protecting Sonia Gandhi’s family from being exposed.
Jethmalani also accused the two ministers of being silent in Parliament instead of supporting him when he had raised the issue of the Nehru-Gandhi family’s black money. He also said Jaitley and Swaraj were instrumental in his ouster from the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Eminent citizens from different walks of life and fields of governance, some active and some retired, were present on the occasion. Those invited included Subhash C Kashyap, Prof Bheem Singh, V Shekhar and Adish C Aggarwala, Bhure Lal, GVG Krishnamurthy, Prabhat Chaturvedi, KJ Rao, Prakash Singh, Shashi Kant, Ajay Kumar, Amitabh Thakur, Justice AP Shah, RS Sodhi, DS Tewatia, Mukul Mudgal, Arun Kumar, Anil Bokil, KN Govindacharya, PV and Nutan Thakur among others.
It was the day Supreme Court lawyer Ashwini Upadhyay, former head of legal cell of the Aam Aadmi Party, inaugurated the Adarsh Bharat Abhiyan (Ideal India Campaign) and invited these dignitaries to speak on reforms needed in various sectors of the state.
