Following the arrest of terrorist Hidayatullah Malik, the chief of Lashkar-e-Mustafa (LeM), it has been learnt that Pakistan-based terrorist outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed was planning to carry out a terror attack in Delhi. Jammu and Kashmir Police chief Dilbag Singh said the terrorists in Kashmir were procuring weapons from Bihar and were using some students studying in Punjab to smuggle the illegal arms and ammunition into the valley.
Malik, who was arrested by the police from Kunjwani in District Jammu on 6 February, has confessed that he had done a successful video reconnaissance (recce) of the office of National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval at Sardar Patel Bhawan in Delhi. The Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist was sending recce videos via WhatsApp to his Pakistani handler.
Speaking to media, Singh said that an IED of 7 kilograms in Jammu was recovered and a major terror attack was averted which could have created havoc. He revealed that Raghunath Temple, bus stands, railway stations were on target of the Jaish and Lashkar terrorists.
The terrorists were planning to carry out terror attack on Raghunath Temple on the second anniversary of Pulwama terror attack. The police foiled the nefarious activities and recovered 15 other small IEDs from Samba area.
While addressing a press conference on the arrest of Malik and Zahoor Ahmad Rather, Jammu and Kashmir DGP Singh confirmed that the terrorists were associated with Lashkar-e-Mustafa (LeM) and The Resistance Front (TRF).
“He (Malik) disclosed that he had carried out the video recce on the instructions of his handler in Pakistan who had directed him to do so because the terrorists were planning to target some of the highest value Indian targets,” a source was quoted by news agency as saying.
Ajit Doval is on the hit list of terrorists because of his crucial role in effective implementation of the Uri surgical strike in 2016 and the Balakote airstrike in 2019. The NSA managed to ensure the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir remains normal following the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A.
