IPL 2018: Sunrisers challenge for revived Delhi

Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Daredevils will come up against each other for the first time in VIVO IPL 2018 when they meet in Match 36

Hyderabad: Team Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Daredevils will come up against each other for the first time in VIVO IPL 2018 when they meet in Match 36.

Hyderabad, who sit comfortably at the top of the table, haven’t played in five days. Prior to the break, they converted three nearly lost causes to wins and six points. They defended 118 against Mumbai Indians, 132 against and 151 in their most-recent match against the Rajasthan Royals. The bowling department – even without the injured Bhuvneshwar Kumar in their last three matches – is definitely the team’s stronger suite. Captain Kane Williamson and coach Tom Moody have tried to infuse a bit of muscle to the batting by including the experienced Alex Hales at the top.

Hyderabad’s star pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar, still recovering from a back problem. The others handling the new ball like Basil Thampi, Sandeep Sharma and Siddarth Kaul have been very good and have found excellent support from the spin duo of the experienced left-armer Shakib Al Hasan and the exciting leggie Rashid Khan.

Delhi, who have 3 wins from 9 matches, can ill afford another loss. In their most recent outing, they held their nerve to clinch two points in the rain-affected match against the Rajasthan Royals. This is the Daredevils’ final away match of the season; they play their remaining 4 matches at home. They’ll want to win this and return home with the confidence of a win behind them.

Prithvi Shaw was first given a chance in the IPL, he has impressed everyone with his batting and in the four innings he has played so far, he has looked like he belongs at this level.

Shreyas Iyer is having a memorable season, scoring runs with the bat on a consistent basis and also taking over the captaincy from Gautam Gambhir. Shreyas will hope that his season gets better as he looks to lead his side to the playoffs.

Liam Plunkett, who came in as a replacement for the injured Kagiso Rabada, made his IPL against and had a huge impact in the game. Amit Mishra has been an integral part of the Delhi Daredevils unit for a while now.
