Pune: Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Daredevils will come up against each other for the first time in Match 30 of VIVO IPL 2018.
The Super Kings will enter the encounter, hoping to rectify mistakes and continue on their path towards the playoffs. CSK look a more or less settled side with all of their bases covered. The only thing that CSK needs to look upon is their pace bowling with Deepak Chahar not in contention. Raina has struggled against DD scoring only 491 runs at 28.88 with just two fifties from 20 innings.
Suresh Raina looked in delightful touch during the loss to Mumbai Indians whereas Amabati Rayudu and MS Dhoni continued to contribute as well but the lack of runs from Sam Billings and the lack of clarity over Ravindra Jadeja’s role will be a cause for minor concern for now.
Last 5 matches, Bravo has picked up 7 wickets, and has gone at an acceptable economy of 9.00. Shardul Thakur needs to step up and not only play the role of spearhead but also look at restraining the runs.
Delhi Daredevils were the first team to hit the reset button midway through the season. After Gautam Gambhir decided to step down and Shreyas Iyer was given the commands of the team, the results showed instantly. In their previous match – Shreyas’ first as captain – DD posted the highest total of the season and then applied the squeeze on the visiting Kolkata Knight Riders to win by 55 runs.
Shreyas Iyer is the Delhi Daredevils’ top run-getter this season. With half-centuries in each of his last three innings, Shreyas now DD captain will expect to extend that streak further and lead by example. Prithvi Shaw wowed during his knocked of 62 against the Kolkata Knight Riders; the 18-year old played a few strokes which elicited comparisons with some of the legends.
For DD, Trent Boult has picked up wickets in every one of his 7 matches. The left-arm pacer’s economy – 8.74 isn’t too bad as well. The Daredevils will want him to prise out a few early wickets. Trent Boult has now picked up at least one wicket in each of his last 10 IPL matches.
