Mumbai: The flop followed certain politically loaded comments by star Shah Rukh Khan. The actor essayed a double role in the film, taking about 6 hours a day for his make-up for the two roles in Fan. In an exclusive interview with Anupama Chopra recently, he reacted to the box office reception of that film thus: “When films don’t do well, it breaks your heart. I know all of them don’t do well but this one was really special. And there was a lot of analysis why it was wrong and maybe they are right but analyzing an emotional moment is kinda strange and awkward for that matter. So yeah, it broke my heart.”
“The only country where the film has worked, is interestingly, in Pakistan,” Soumyadipta Banerjee wrote in Bollywood Journalist. While the article goes deep into the plot of the story, it misses a vital reason for the film not faring well commercially: his politically loaded comments prior to the release of the film.
He had said, “It is stupid to be intolerant and this is our biggest issue, not just an issue… Religious intolerance and not being secular in this country is the worst kind of crime that you can do as a patriot,” adding, “People put words into the air even before thinking and here is a secular country. Here’s a country perhaps for the last 10 years that is on the cusp of going beyond what we think.” Now, why would the audience that made him a superstar tolerate such a negative comment on them?
Koffee with Karan 5
Shah Rukh Khan, Chitramala reports, attended as the first guest on the Season 5 of ‘Koffee with Karan’ show hosted by Karan Johar. After a lot of professional as well as personal queries, when the host asked him, ‘What would you do if someone kisses your daughter Suhana’, the superstar replied promptly that he would rip the lips off that person. He was visibly angry while making the comment.

All those who are looking forward to “juicy gossips, candid confessions, controversial spats etc”, as The Times of India describes the content of the TV show, must also be eagerly awaiting the episode featuring Parineeti Chopra and Aditya Roy Kapur.
Sonam Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan shot for their episode, 27-29 October.
Bigg Boss to deduct a huge amount from winner’s prize money
This has been reported by Business of Cinema. It says that the housemates in the reality show are introduced to a new task. It is one of the unique tasks that contestants of the 10th season have faced. Every contestant has to bid for the medal and the one with the highest bid will win the task.
While they “brainstormed themselves to win the immunity medal,” the site reports, “little did they know that the highest bid amount will be deducted from their winning prize money.”
The housemate bidding highest gets an assurance that he/she will not be ousted in the next two episodes. Nitibha Kaul won this immunity with the highest bid of Rs 25 lakh.
Salman Khan supports Hillary Clinton
Several news mediums have reported this political statement of Bollywood’s Brat No. 1. He tweeted yesterday in the afternoon:
— Salman Khan (@BeingSalmanKhan) November 5, 2016
After defending the inclusion of Pakistani artistes in the cast of Indian films, this is another political comment a chunk of his fans wouldn’t be pleased with, as there is a surge of moral support for Donald Trump in the country.
Till the time father Salim Khan is there to apologise time and again for the son’s behaviour and statements, Salman Khan is one lucky Bollywood personality who gets away with murder. How long his stars will support the star, is the question.
‘Professional’ Abhishek likes wife Aishwarya’s intimate scenes with other actors
“The sizzling on-screen chemistry between Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Ranbir Kapoor in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has been appreciated by fans and Abhishek Bachchan says he hasn’t seen the film but is “proud” of his wife,” PTI reports. Given his statement that he hasn’t seen the film, it is being seen as his attempt to avoid embarrassment. But he has a ‘professional’ reason, too.
“Of course I’m proud of her. I haven’t watched Ae Dil Hai Mushkil as yet. I’ve been too busy travelling with my team. Of course, I’ve seen rushes and stuff and she’s shared what has happened on the sets,” he told NDTV.
Shraddha Kapoor encouraged a stalker?
Known film journalist Subhash K Jha writes about the stalker in Deccan Chronicle while reporting an episode of Zee TV‘s programme ‘Yaaron ki Baaraat’, “She was meeting the fan for the 17th time, this time on the sets of Sajid and Ritesh’s talk show. In a choked voice, she told us she had seen the van at her shootings, under her residential building, etc. Instead of reprimanding the fan for stalking her, Shraddha hugged the bewildered guy and thanked him for being so supportive.”
“Perhaps, the illusion of safety provided by security guards around her exempts Shraddha from the perils of stalking. But when she hugs a stalker on national television, she puts other far less privileged and protected working-women, in imminent danger,” Jha adds.
Rahul denies he forced Pratyusha into prostitution
In an interview to an entertainment portal, Rahul Raj Singh has said, “Pratyusha’s parents have suddenly woken up to create troubles in my life. It’s been two months that the case was moving in the right direction when suddenly they have gone ahead with publicizing the last conversation between her and me.”
Rahul had also written an open letter to the leading daily and its owner, which was shared by the entertainment portal. Here are some lines from the letter:
“One article (page and name of the leading daily) states that I have been instructed by the High Court to deposit 20 lacs in the Heer Patel cheating case by the 1st of December.Let me clarify that no such judgement has been passed by the court, all of you can go to the Official website of the High Court and check the progress of this case. The case is still ongoing and no judgement has been given yet, in fact arguements (sic) have also not begun,we have been given a date i.e.1st December to be present at the High Court for further proceedings as the Court was closed recently because of Diwali.”
“Secondly,” he says, “in the front page, the very same reporter writes that Neeraj Gupta has got hold of the last conversation between Pratyusha Banerjee and Myself (sic) where in (sic) she can be heard saying I have pushed her into prostitution.Hence I am attaching a part of the original chargesheet which holds our last phone call transcript.”
“If you will (sic) go through it carefully, you will be able to read for urself (sic) that she is clearly blaming her parents for pushing her into prostitution and spoiling her name, at one point she can also be heard saying that she actually doubts her parentage (?). If you will (sic) read my part, I can be clearly heard reassuring her to not take all this seriously and to even file a case against her family for tarnishing her name.”
