Honeypreet, who was lodged in Ambala Central Jail for 803 days in Panchkula violence case, came out of jail on bail on Wednesday. After coming out of jail, she headed for Dera Sacha Sauda in Sirsa. She entered the camp with a convoy of vehicles. After spending some time in the cave of Baba Gurmeet Ram Rahim, she finally went to her house.

After Honeypreet’s return to the Dera Sacha Sauda, a question has arisen whether she will take charge of the dera herself or whether Gurmeet Ram Rahim will try to come out of the prison either by challenging his sentence or on parole.

The car carrying Honeypreet

After being released on bail from Ambala’s Central Jail, Honeypreet saw the size for her convoy grow from 3 to 30 cars up to Dera Sacha Sauda in Sirsa. The cars took her to all the places she wished to visit. In the journey of nearly 200 km, people were seen standing everywhere to welcome her.

Even though there were 30 vehicles in Honeypreet’s convoy, only eight went from Gate No. 7 to inside the camp. Everyone else remained outside. At 9:40 AM, she reached her tent after being in jail for 803 days.

In the joy of the arrival of Honeypreet, Ram Rahim’s disciples organised a special “Ramcharcha” in the camp where songs were sung, expressing their emotions. She would stay for some time in Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s cave.

Honeypreet had to go to jail in connection with the violence in Panchkula after the rape accused Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim was convicted, sentenced and incarcerated. Tight security arrangements were made before her release. She got bail on two bonds of Rs 1 lakh each. She was under trial at the Panchkula court under FIR No. 345 under the Panchkula Sector 5 police station.

Dera disciples waiting for Honeypreet’s arrival

After the conviction of Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim, violence erupted in Panchkula, Haryana, on 25 August 2017 after which Honeypreet was jailed. In this incident of violence, 41 people were killed and more than 260 were injured.

The court of Panchkula CJM Rohit Vats approved the bail plea of Honeypreet and decided to grant her bail. Her lawyer had filed a bail application on Wednesday. Earlier last month, the court had rejected his bail plea.

Earlier, the Panchkula court had on 2 November last week framed charges in the violence case in Panchkula following the arrest of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim. While the court removed the Section of treason, giving some relief to all the accused including Ram Rahim’s special interest Honeypreet. Ram Rahim had adopted his confidante Priyanka Taneja as his daughter, giving her the name Honeypreet in 2009.

Honeypreet co-directed the films MSG: The Warrior Lion Heart, Hind Ka Napak ko Jawab – MSG Lion Heart – 2 and Jattu Engineer.

Charges have been framed against Honeypreet and other accused under Sections 216, 145, 150, 151, 152, 153 and 120B of IPC whereas Sections 121 and 121A of the IPC have been dropped.
