New Delhi: The college student, who had alleged that a semen-filled balloon was thrown at her in Amar colony market had submitted her clothes for forensic examination. The test results are back and have ruled out the presence of semen on her clothes, police said.
In February, before Holi, a woman had alleged that semen-filled balloons were thrown at her. On the basis of her complaint, a case was registered at the Greater Kailash police station.
This Delhi University college student has claimed in a social media post that a group of unidentified men allegedly threw a “semen-filled” balloon at her.
In her Instagram post on February 24, the girl, who is from the northeast, said, “I went out with a friend for lunch to a cafe in Amar Colony Market. At around five when heading back in a rickshaw there came flying my way a liquid-filled balloon hitting me in the hip where it burst open, its content seeping into my dress.”
The woman’s clothes were sent for a forensic examination. Almost two months later, the examination ruled out that the balloons contained semen, police said. The contents of the balloon are being probed, they added.
There was an outrage and many students and teacher protested against the hooliganism. To protest the increasing incidents of semen-flinging and inadequate policing, especially in the run-up to Holi, the students and teachers gathered outside the Delhi Police Headquarters and raised slogans and demanded enhanced security for women students. They said that Holi can’t be an excuse to molest women and the police must increase patrolling around colleges.
