Hindus protest against desecration of crematorium ashes of woman in Pakistan

In Pakistan's southwestern province of Balochistan, a large number of Hindus protested against the desecration of a woman's ashes in the town of Kalat. A representative of the community said that a recently Hindu woman was cremated at the cremation ground by her relatives. Whereas her ashes were in the crematorium, the source said, unknown miscreants scattered the remains.

The source said that someone even stole the gate of the cremation ground. Hindus of the area made a complaint to the administration, but it did not take any action.

According to Dawn (newspaper), hundreds of people from the Hindu community demonstrated on Sunday. Traders belonging to the minority community kept their shops closed.

The protesters raised slogans against the local administration.  They demanded that the arrest the people involved in the incident. Some clerics and political party leaders joined the protest and supported the demand of Hindus.

Seven months ago, Pooja, an 18-year-old Hindu girl, was murdered in the Sakkar of Sindh province in Pakistan.  There were protests in Sakkar after the murder. In the case registered by Sakar police, Pooja Kumari's father Sahib Adi had alleged that three men entered their house to kidnap his daughter, but they killed Pooja when she resisted.

The allegedly desecrated ashes were the remains of Pooja Kumari. They were kept in the crematorium as a memorial.
