Gay sex racket in Muslim-dominated pocket of Mumbai busted

Irfan Khan (26), Ahmed Sheikh (24) and Imran Sheikh (24) and two of their absconding accomplices were running the gay sex racket in Malvani, using a dating app

A gay sex racket has been busted in Malvani, a -dominated neighbourhood in Mumbai. This is the first time a gang running a gay sex racket has been busted by Mumbai Police.

A team of cops from the Malvani police station arrested three people. Police said the gang was running the racket through an app.

Police said that they had received a complaint from a person who had complained that five people had beaten him mercilessly, taken away his cash, credit and debit cards and posted his objectionable video on social media, after which the police initiated an investigation.

The gang was active online for the last several months, said the police. The gang used to reach out to people through a gay dating app and also allegedly blackmailed them by luring them into sex traps. The clients of this gang run largely by Muslims comprised many high profile people.

According to police sources, the arrested accused have been identified as Irfan Khan (26), Ahmed Sheikh (24) and Imran Sheikh (24). There are two more suspects in the case who are absconding.

The suspects had lured a 23-year-old man working as an accountant in a company into a sex trap through a gay dating app. The victim was charged Rs 1,000 per hour.

When the victim reached the address mentioned by the suspects, four men present there manhandled him, snatched his phone, wallet and other belongings and threatened him of dire consequences if he complained to the police. They threatened him to share the PIN of his ATM, the police said.

The suspects also recorded a video of the victim, after forcing him into a sexual act, on his phone and threatened to put it on the internet. They demanded money from the victim and threatened to show the video to his family if the money was not paid. The victim somehow got out of there on the pretext of fetchiy money and, on escaping, informed his family about the incident.

On Sunday, the victim complained to the police that initiated a probe. The police said they had arrested the too and are now investigating the matter further.
