Andhericha Raja mandal, which consists of more than 600 volunteers, Art direction of the mandal has been done by Darmesh Shah and Prashil

Mumbai: This is the pandal that draws most ot the celebrities from Bollywood. Andhericha Raja is also known for fulfilling wishes, and while waiting for your turn to offer your prayers, you might even spot a celebrity along with you. Andhericha Raja is also popularly known as Lalbaugh cha Raja of the Mumbai suburbs. It was first founded by the workers of Tata Special Steel and Excel Industries Ltd. in 1966.

Andhericha Raja is another huge crowd puller, though only in its 53nd year in 2018. One of the striking features of the idol is its gold crown said to be more than three kilogram by weight.  Interestingly, while all the mandal hold the immersion ceremony on Anant Chaturdashi, this idol is taken out for immersion five days later, on the day of Sankasthi Chaturthi.

Every year the beautiful decorations and the unique themes of the pandal attracts a major crowd of devotees across the country, however, the mandal maintains a strict rule in terms of dress code. The mandal doesn’t allow male and female devotees to wear shorts or mini skirts.

What makes this Ganpati idol different from the rest is that it is immersed after 16 days instead of the usual 10th day for other Ganpati idols. This means the Ganpati stays up to Shakasti ie after Anath Chaturti.

Several Bollywood movie stars and other notable celebs, like Priyanka Chopra, Shilpa Shetty family, Ravina Tandon, Nana Patekar, Anil Kapoor, Shatrughan Sinha, Alka Yagnik, and Bappi Lahiri frequent at the pandal. Several political leaders also seek blessings from Andheri Cha Raja.

Hate Story 4 actress Ihana Dhillon visited Andheri Cha Raja Ganpati Pandal to seek blessings. The actress donned a ravishing green kurta for the special darshan.

The mandal spokesperson Uday Salian boasts that the Andheri Cha Raja has the TM certificate exclusively from the government of India and has bagged first prize from fire and security association of India. It has 24 CCTV cameras and all kinds of insurance.

Andheri Cha Raja mandal, which consists of more than 900 volunteers, Art direction of the mandal has been done by Darmesh Shah and Prashil. Ganesh Chaturthi is around the corner and the 11-day-long festival will commence on 13 September.
