FIR against Alka Lamba for indecent remarks against Modi, Yogi

Alka Lamba had tweeted that Kuldeep Singh had got the bail from the court at the behest of the Prime Minister and the Home Minister

An FIR has been lodged against INC leader Alka Lamba for making indecent remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Uttar Pradesh State Child Rights Protection Commission member Preeti Verma lodged this FIR against Alka Lamba at the Hazratganj police station in Lucknow.

Verma filed the complaint, alleging that Lamba had uploaded a video on her Twitter timeline where she used derogatory words for Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Yogi.

In another tweet, Lamba questioned a high court judge with misleading allegations, which amounts to contempt of court according to Verma.

The FIR has been lodged under Sections 504, 505(1)(b) and 505(2) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

In a video shared by Lamba on Twitter, she had slammed Prime Minister Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Adityanath, calling them “impotent”. She also said she would spit on their faces.

Lamba targeted the prime minister and the Uttar Pradesh chief minister for playing the Muslim and Dalit cards. Citing the Unnao rape case in which former MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar was involved, she termed ‘Beti Bachao’ campaign a “flop show”, alleging that the government had failed to protect “daughters of India” and provide justice to the victims.

Lamba further wrote on Twitter that the video she was sharing was of a two-year-old. Nearly one crore people had seen the video that far.

“When blind “Bhakts” (devotees) could not find anything against me, they searched this old video for FIR,” she wrote.

Aishwarya Sengar, daughter of former MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, who is in Delhi’s Tihar Jail in connection with the Unnao rape case, has lodged an FIR against Alka Lamba over her tweet too.

Lamba had tweeted that Kuldeep Singh had got the bail from the court at the behest of the prime minister and Home Minister Amit Shah. Aishwarya submitted a complaint to Superintendent of Police (SP) Vikrantveer, calling the tweet “fake” and a “political conspiracy”. Kuldeep Sengar was not granted bail; Aishwarya said her lawyer had moved the Delhi High Court for the father’s bail.

In February 2015, Lamba was elected to the Delhi Legislative Assembly from Chandni Chowk. She quit AAP in September 2019 citing disrespect for her within the party. On 6 September 2019, she formally returned to the INC.

#Arrestalkalamba has been trending on social media since the FIR was registered.

Earlier, Lamba had grabbed headlines for praising Yuva Congress hours after the alleged attack on Arnab Goswami.
