Femina Miss India 2020 goes digital to check Covid-19 spread

The COVID pandemic has thrown our normal lives out of gear completely and has made us relook how we structure our lives. With a nearly six-decade legacy of transforming lives of young talented women who have become icons in the glamour and fashion industry, VLCC Femina Miss India 2020 co-powered by Sephora & Roposo, vows to continue its tradition of creating icons with an aim to extend whole-hearted support to the new generation women who have the potential to lead and represent the country in the future, this time, online.

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Miss India Organization translates its scouting operations into the digital media space, in pursuit of beauty ambassadors. Powered by a dynamic new format, VLCC Femina Miss India 2020 is anchored by an underlining vision to empower the youth and represent the best of Indians talents at International platforms.

The pageant in its virtual format for the first time ever, has launched a nationwide hunt effective 5 October 2020 to select representatives each from the 28 states and a representative from Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir besides a collective representative from the Union Territories making for a total of 31 finalists.

These shortlisted finalists will undergo rigorous training and grooming and will be mentored by none other than the former beauty queen and actress Neha Dhupia. Subsequently the girls will be further shortlisted and will arrive in Mumbai to compete for the coveted crown at the Grand Finale in the month of February 2021.

Talking about the pageant with pride and passion, Neha Dhupia said, “Each year as the journey of Femina Miss India begins, it brings back all the memories of the priceless experiences I’ve had with this pageant. It’s almost like re-living every moment of my journey with these young glamorous girls who are so full of enthusiasm and capability to take on the world with power and elegance. Certainly, there are challenges with the digital process in the wake of the pandemic, however I’m confident it will be as exciting and worthwhile irrespective of the layout.”

The annual pageant has roped in the leading Wellness & Beauty brand, VLCC, as its lead sponsor for the 2020 edition.

Commenting on the association, Jayant Khosla, Managing Director and Group Head, VLCC Group said, “For VLCC, beauty is more than merely skin deep.
